The Builders Association of India (BAI) was formed in 1941 in Pune with guidance from Brigadier Jackson, who also allotted office space in the Military Compound. In the last 72 years since its inception, the BAI has grown by leaps and bounds. Today, it has nearly 30,000 members across 100 centres spread over the length and breadth of the country, with its headquarters at Mumbai. BAI is the member of “International Federation of Asian Western Pacific Constructors Association”.
The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national body of architects in the country. Having started in the year 1917, it has more than 15,000 members today. The Institute has a major role in promoting the profession of architecture by organizing and uniting in fellowship the Architects of India, to promote aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the profession both in practice and in education. IIA is represented on various national and international committees connected with architecture, art and the building industry and is also actively associated with International Union of Architects (UIA), Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) and South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation of Architects (SAARCH).
The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) was formed and registered in 1985 by a group of Consulting Civil Engineers in Bangalore. The main object of the association is to encourage and foster the ideals of the profession, to hold conferences / meetings / seminars for dissemination of knowledge amongst the civil engineers in particular and the society at large. ACCE (I) with its headquarters at Bangalore has since grown into a National Association with centers formed all over India.
